With all of the data available around the word (some having it on a weekend, some a holiday) I can't see making a change like this having an appreciable impact on voter turnout. Besides, say what you want about the US electorate system, but it has not changed much. There are fundemantal problems related to voter turnout, and superficial changes like this really are pointless in the scheme of things.
