Investments are not about personal emotional references.
- parent5446 10y agoInvestments are whatever you want them to be. It's your money to do with as you please. Some people find meaning in the actual ownership of a company.
- EugeneOZ 10y agoThen it's just expensive toy and not an investment. Point of investment is to make profit. You know, there is a ROI term. And when somebody thinks that staying on powerpc is courage but removing most widely adopted port isn't courage, I think it's just personal grievance
- parent5446 10y agoOK, who cares? Maybe the guy is so rich he can afford to spend $300,000 on his personal grievances. Hell I wish I could afford to do something like that. Who are you to tell somebody what they can and can't do with their assets?
- charlesism 10y ago> Point of investment is to make profit. Yes, but not necessarily a profit in terms of dollars.
- majewsky 10y ago> Point of investment is to make profit. You can also invest out of ideological or ethical reasons. For example, I would not for the life of myself invest in a weapons manufacturer even if they had the highest ROI around.
- SyneRyder 10y agoThat's true - but if you're also a customer of the company and you notice you're no longer interested in the products they sell, that can inform your investment decision about the company's future performance. It can be an earlier signal than waiting for results announcements.
- elp 10y agoYes. But if a company with that has had declining market share and profits for the last few quarters brings our a product that gets panned its a smart move to not hold their shares. Shorting them might not be smart, but removing your exposure is.
- vorotato 10y agoIf you do not use your emotions when investing you will lose buckets of money. There is a difference between being highly emotional, and using your emotions to guide your intuition. Chances are if he felt upset enough to sell, so will others, and he is wiser (and wealthier) because of it.
