You describe a consistent viewpoint, but of rather ideal workplace situation. In reality, instances of "your manager" go from "you have your manager to thank for mentoring and advice" to "he is constantly pushing you around and making threats for no justifiable reason, bringing zero value to your work". Unfortunately, there are managers who do not know how to communicate and do not know how to be a good leader.
- unabst 10y agoYes, of course there are managers that suck. After all it's just another job. There are companies that suck. Some are big enough to not have to care or notice undervalued talent. If you're talented, you don't want to be there. But I think it's safe to say, if you're good enough to manage people, you have a job in America. Businesses lust for good managers. It's the only way to ensure work gets done with affordable labor, and many businesses can only afford affordable labor.
