The most effective means that I've found is building relationships with people who are slightly ahead of where you're at around your area. You could do it remotely and in fact one of my mentors is remote but generally, building that type of relationship that makes someone want to regularly spend time with you takes at least a dozen 1:1 conversations, a relationship.
