Regarding Rust v OCaml, Rust is a nice language but solving a very different problem. The type system is far weaker than that of OCaml's, it's less expressive (more verbose) by virtue of its sometimes-GCless GC. Rust is meant for system programming, and OCaml is rather more general purpose and pleasant to write in, while remaining incredibly performant.
