Is this going to get buried down on page 37 again because the comments contradict the feels brigade's self-image?
Edit: Fscking called it (http://sli.mg/HqLVu2 http://sli.mg/HqLVu2).
Just like LambdaConf. (https://twitter.com/antispamuel/status/719907750097129473 https://twitter.com/antispamuel/status/719907750097129473). War is peace, excluding people is inclusivity and stomping out wrongthink is welcoming.
- sctb 10y agoThe HN guidelines ask that you neither complain about downvotes nor made uncivil insults. Please don't do this, it's especially important on divisive topics such as this. When a post like this is flagged, it's most often because users who fall on both sides of the relevant issue feel that it doesn't belong on HN.
- asdffderty 10y agoNo because HN is an SJW echo chamber.
- tnones 10y agoStrange how I only ever see this happening to topics that paint the social justice brigade in a particularly bad light, a group that has a particularly censorious bent to boot. Either way, every time I've seen it happen, the thread is young and still rising, so this flagging mechanism cannot possibly represent a meaningful slice of the HN readership, who are prevented from finding out. That sounds like plain old censorship and information control to me, and I'm pretty sure the moderators know it.
