There's a discussion about this above, but open source has many meanings. Duet's source is open, meaning you can absolute inspect and/or modify it once you purchase it, but it's not free software, so the source isn't publicly available, which is why it's not on github.
- mrmondo 10y agoActually open source software just has one meaning: "Open-source software (OSS) is computer software with its source code made available with a license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose. Open-source software may be developed in a collaborative public manner." --- * https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Open_Source_Definition https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Open_Source_Definition * http://opendefinition.org/od/2.1/en/ http://opendefinition.org/od/2.1/en/
- 23andwalnut 10y agoSure. But there's a distinct difference between FOSS and paid software. Many people think FOSS = OSS. The original comment asked about Github, and the subsequent conversation led me to believe at least one of the commenters was thought that because it wasn't on Github, that the source wasn't open. I was attempting to clear up that confusion, while pointing out where on the spectrum my product falls.
