After the first or second semester I learned to buy (or... cough... acquire) the book when needed. It's amazing how many books are listed but never get used... and it's amazing how easy it is to get most books if you know where to look. It is hit or miss (some books are impossible to find), but its amazing how much money I've probably saved.
