I read two things in this:
- We bring work and employ a lot of people so we are good.
- Be careful because if we don't get it our way we are going to go away and you are the one that will suffer.
- xigency 10y agoSounds like an abusive relationship.
- PedroBatista 10y agoSounds like every Apple product I ever owned.

- tribaal 10y agoWell, where would they go? All EU countries will be subject to the same law, and I doubt they would just stop selling their product on the european market (it would still make them money even when paying normal taxes). Paying customs tariffs would probably be worse than paying taxes in the EU, too.
- xyzzy4 10y ago> Well, where would they go? Any country that would give them large amounts of tax credits. I'm sure some countries would be willing to negotiate. > I doubt they would just stop selling their product on the european market (it would still make them money even when paying normal taxes). They could sell to resellers who would sell in Europe, if it came to that.
- duiker101 10y agoI don't think that there's anywhere they can go but that's the feeling I get from this message. I see it as Apple trying to strong arm the EU with a possible threat and trying to justify their actions.
- pluma 10y agoIn a way, the EC's decision actually acts as a safeguard against this kind of blackmail: a country may be pressured into making a bad deal like this, but EU law renders the deal invalid. And because the EC is not controlled by any single member state, it can't treat any single nation different from the others.
- zigzigzag 10y agoIreland wasn't really pressured, was it? You can phrase your post another way - the EU "safeguards" members against making their own decisions and possibly becoming more attractive than the others. And because the EC is not controlled by any single member state, it can't treat any single nation different from the others. Tell that to Jean-Claude "it's different because it's France" Juncker!
