I think it should be called "digital hallucinations" - non-reproducible (but not totally random either) visualizations, renderings of some data gained from a device build according some biased and grossly oversimplified models. It might have strong correlation with micro changes in blood flow or biochemistry, etc. but obviously have nothing to do with thoughts.
