These are very old studies. It is now known that ADHD is a genetic disorder. In fact it has unusually high correlation. It is absolutely not caused by environmental factors. Though there is one virus (that I'm aware of) that may cause it. It is not only an issue of attentiveness, but ranter all executive functions. The poor naming of the disorder, and the observability of a persons focus, causes people to over emphasize the inattentiveness symptom.
