I don't even work at YC anymore but care about it deeply. The deal is actually a good one because it's not like getting money from someplace where you get some advice once in awhile and that's it. It's a huge community that helps each other, and that makes it work. You learn things from people that nobody would ever share on a forum or conference or put in a blog post, and it's that secret knowledge that helps startups go from zero to one. I wouldn't be here without that community, and a lot of successful founders feel the same way.
