Why is this on HN?

  From the FAQ/Submission Guidelines: What to Submit On-Topic: Anything that good hackers would find interesting. That includes more than hacking and startups. If you had to reduce it to a sentence, the answer might be: anything that gratifies one's intellectual curiosity. --- I think the amount of comments on this post satisfies the criteria.

    I find it disappointing as much by the quality of the submission as by the interest it is receiving on HN. That being said, thank you for replying to a honest question. :)

  many folks on HN consider "being mediocre" and "being happy" as mutually exclusive. The article is thus thought provoking for this audience and could be considered interesting according to the guidelines. That said, I have to say the article is at best ... uhm ... mediocre. I think it is a topic worth discussing, though.
