It's my understanding MacPorts came from the same BSD Port system and keeps the same philosophy. How does pkgsrc differ?
- kchoudhu 10y agoPrior discussion: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9407119 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=9407119 Because of the cross-platform focus of the NetBSD developers, I can replicate my package installation workflow on any number (20+ at last count) of operating systems with the same command set. This saves me from the mental overhead of having to pick up Mac-isms, which is nice. Also, binary installs!
