I'm more surprised Facebook didn't withhold access to information for TechCrunch after that. News embargoes are a thing, journalists are not supposed to publish things like this ahead of time

PR people probably had an ongoing relationship with the tech blog, and that relationship would've probably deteriorated. The author of the article wasn't in PR, though.
