How much cash am I supposed to be keeping on hand in case there's a flood or tornado?
- pjmorris 10y agoIt depends. A couple hundred was sufficient for us when Hurricane Wilma knocked out power across most of South Florida in 2005, but we happened to be in a pocket that had power, were surrounded by family and friends with food and other resources, and didn't really have to go anywhere or do anything. YMMV, but be careful with the idea that you don't need any. The ATM's and card swipes work until they don't.
