By the same token, the ability to silence it is far greater. When someone is ranting about the world ending outside of your business, you might have to call the cops. Online, you just hit "ignore".
- DanBC 10y ago> Online, you just hit "ignore". You've clearly never been the target of even a minor troll campaign. Hundreds of accounts each send hundreds of messages an hour across a wide range of social media and email accounts. If they can get your real world details they'll use those too. If they get your workplace details they'll use that to harass your employer.
- Aelinsaar 10y agoPeople have tried, but I've always been "paranoid" about keeping my online and offline social lives separated; it was clear a long time ago that "living open" was absolutely insane.
