Like the strategy of probing "deeply into technical details and the engineering decisions of the past" as a mitigation, thanks! I don't actually think memory would play that big of a role, if candidate solved interesting problems in the past "How would you solve it now?" might be more interesting question than "Do you accurately remember your past solution?" :)
