- Jommi 10y agoYou would think so, as even snow messes most selfdriving setups right now. Because of legislation, Finland is actually aiming to be the foreground of testing for these kind of environments. "Lapland Proving Grounds" is building a own highway in Lapland, just for test purposes.
- milesokeefe 10y agoAt a maximum speed of 7MPH I wouldn't be too worried about that. They don't operate on public roads anyways.
- ptaipale 10y agoThey would if the trial were to continue beyond October, but the city plans to end the trial before snow comes. I think the headline is a bit grand for the whole thing, but perhaps there is one thing where Helsinki actually is a first: these are actual autonomous vehicles moving legally without a driver among other traffic - other than that it's completely unimpressive: the trial is extremely limited, speed is ridiculously slow and the other traffic is only nominal. Should I go there on my bike just to see what happens when I ride too close? Of course that'd be frustrating for the other passengers...
