Ultimately it looks like it is nice consumer friendly option, but the repair costs are being subsidized by Tesla at great expense to Tesla, and even then the total cost compared to the gas car is only marginally better. The primary takeaway here is that the more expensive car has better resale value, from name and build quality. Which is the only saving grace in this equation. After Elon's crowdsale cars come out at the lower price, its game over though!
