They mentioned that the exit node can see your traffic, but they left out that they don't know who you are. They also left out that the VPN can both see your traffic and probably knows who you are.
- news_to_me 10y agoYeah, the article seems a bit skewed - you have to trust your VPN provider a lot for it to have better privacy. Also, whether or not the last leg of your Tor connection is encrypted kind of depends - as long as you stick to HTTPS, there's limited information the exit node can glean.
- VeryBigNumber 10y agoThe article covers some basic things - as for VPN provider some store a lot of logs about user activity (avoid such services), some have 100% zero logs policy, and are based in countries that don't stick their noses to internet traffic. About TOR's exit node - article mention at the beginning about how packets travel, so it's obvious that potential spy doesn't know who you are....until you do something stupid like logging to your gmail, or facebook. So unencrypted traffic at exit node can be used to track you down.
