Show HN: RadioSilence. Easy to Use OS X Firewall
- mthoms 10y agoVery cool. A clean and simple UI, a good price and an awesome added bonus: an app icon that doesn't make me cringe like Little Snitch does (I know I shouldn't care but I do). I only wish the demo period was longer than 24 hours. But, I guess that's enough considering how simple the app is. Kudos.
- ryanmaynard 10y agoWhy not change the icon(s)? Something like Liteicon[1] or just a shell script. There are plenty of app icon libraries. I use Flat.icns[2] [1] https://freemacsoft.net/liteicon/ https://freemacsoft.net/liteicon/ [2] http://flaticns.com/ http://flaticns.com/
- aorth 10y agoCheaper than Little Snitch[0], which has been the firewall of choice for privacy-conscious Mac OS X users for over a decade. I wonder how it compares. It's a shame that neither is open source. Also, I always wondered why there was nothing like this on Linux—I write firewall rules on my servers, but I just want to use my Linux desktop. sigh [0] https://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html https://www.obdev.at/products/littlesnitch/index.html
- xiconfjs 10y agoat least for ufw [1] on Ubuntu there is a GUI called gufw [2], and it's not as bad. [1] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UFW https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UFW [2] https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Gufw https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Gufw
- aorth 10y agoDoes it have the ability to pop up on outgoing request? That's Little Snitch's killer feature.
