The most popular protocol, or method of retrieving information from another computer, was FTP (file transfer protocol), the primitive, labor-intensive equivalent of knocking on someone’s door and asking if you could carry away his piano. lol, I wonder what the computing equivalent of ftp today is.
- digi_owl 10y agoStill FTP.
- regularfry 10y agoSftp, hopefully.
- wtbob 10y ago> Sftp, hopefully. Ha! I've had precisely one vendor ask for an SSH public key to set up file transfer. The world runs on FTP. It's sad. Even sadder, it's often a Windows FTP server!
- digi_owl 10y agoIf there was a sane way to set up an anonymous sftp server, never mind having web browsers actually understand sftp links, things may change.
