I tried running it as my only os on my daily driver laptop a few years ago (mountain lion, I think), checked all the hardware before even thinking about installing it, everything was "fully compatible"... and it was pretty bad. The os itself kinda worked (except for audio dying after a while and standby not working), but the experience in general was horrible (laggy ui, things crashing everywhere, even a few kernel panics). Keep in mind this was a few years ago, but I wouldn't recommend even trying wasting the time to try installing it.
