It's not offensive. It just doesn't add anything interesting. Naturally this post is from a man's perspective and a mother's perspective would be different.

Naturally this post is from a man's perspective and a mother's perspective would be different. Is there an interesting train of thought that these sentences provoke, or are they simply the obvious statements they appear to be?
- wldcordeiro 10y agoI get the sense that the comment was implying that something was less about the man's perspective and that the mother's would be of more value.
- chongli 10y agoIf that is the case, the post is little more than flamebait and entirely deserving of the down arrow. I'd also suggest the weak, half-apology is wholly disingenuous.
- cbsmith 10y agoIt was not flamebait, weak or disingenuous. I honestly thought pointing out the context would allow most people to contemplate differences they'd expect. Rather than assert some specifics, I thought simply the exercise of contemplating a mother's perspective would provide some insight.
- cbsmith 10y agoWell I think a mother wouldn't quite see dating in such one sided predator/prey terms.
- steego 10y agoProbably not. Then again, she probably doesn't have the first-person perspective of being a man belonging to a pack that engages women on a predator/prey terms. I know this letter is all too cliche for you because it reinforces banal gender stereotypes about women being helpless prey, etc. etc. etc. I get it. However, I can't help but get the impression that you live in a bubble because your high minded attitude suggests you are minimizing the number and impact of the predators among us. Am I wrong?
- cbsmith 10y ago> It just doesn't add anything interesting. I see that now. At the time I thought it would. > Is there an interesting train of thought that these sentences provoke, or are they simply the obvious statements they appear to be? Well, the irony is the essay reads more like it was intended to send a message to men, rather than women.
