If that's true, it's creepy, scary, and disappointing. I wasn't aware that there were "no-no keywords". I hope it's not true.

  Dang has discussed it himself and even specifically mentioned NSA as one of the keywords. He frames the "weighting" as a way to prevent subjects that get highly upvoted very quickly from overwhelming the front page. The issue here obviously is that this does artificially lower the ranking of select posts, and they're the ones choosing the keywords. I think it's bullshit, but whatever, it's their site.
