Because it's hypocritical.
- optimuspaul 10y agoIt is? How so?
- twbarber 10y ago"...there are some mothers who need to stay home" and a policy that disallows working from home contradict one another, no?
- lintiness 10y agoha, no. the statement probably suggests that mothers who need to stay home don't need to work / at yahoo.
- optimuspaul 10y agosays nothing about those being working mothers.
- gaius 10y agoAnd also because she had a creche built at Yahoo for just her own kids... http://www.businessinsider.com/marissa-mayer-who-just-banned-working-from-home-paid-to-have-a-nursery-built-at-her-office-2013-2?IR=T http://www.businessinsider.com/marissa-mayer-who-just-banned... It should have been a policy to do it for everyone...
- Ntrails 10y agoCaring for a child in the early years is a full time job - not something you can do in the downtime between remote working. There is no actual conflict in her statements unless a mother both needs to work and needs to stay at home, and consider that to be possible.
- thomnottom 10y agoI have multiple friends who balanced full time remote work with raising their children and would disagree with that statement.
- wwwdonohue 10y agoNope. Just means those kinds of mothers shouldn't try to work at Yahoo.
- morley 10y agoI think you're reaching. A person could say, "Some people need to use drugs, some don't" and still be either for or against drugs. Or could run a company that bans or allows drug usage.
- wwwdonohue 10y agoRunning a company that bans drug usage while you do drugs at work would be a little different.
