To some degree, I think this type of thing happens when you ask a simple question in a class where its not expected. People start over thinking and confusing themselves. I just asked my friend the question (since I wanted to send him the link) and he started asking all sorts of follow up questions because he couldn't believe I'd be asking him such an easy question.
