I used to teach Physics. This is actually a misleading problem for people over-think the problem (but do not have solid understanding of Physics fundamentals). The problem can be easily answered by using a thought experiment. Unfortunately many of such techniques are usually not taught in classes unless you are a in a Physics class for Physics majors.
