Every country in the EU is better off economically as part of it. If you were familiar with the U.K.'s history, might I remind you that the life was so hard that it had a positive emigration away from it in the 60's and 70's? No jobs and hard jobs for those that stayed. I have to find emigration for Ireland, but considering how much Irish there are in the world it was not an easy life there. I can go on - but every current EU country 'prospored' as much as they could, but they mostly 'muddled through'.
