I would kill to see the actual metrics proving the value of these Microsoft policies vs whatever adverse effects they cause (like certain companies delaying installs / purchases etc.).' Same goes for the original "Always online" policy for the Xbox One (which I believe was rescinded). My guess is that they were just random ideas that sounded good to various executives and were implemented without actual research to stand on.
