What whistleblows were there really? My problem with Chelsea was leaking a bunch of operational details which is not beneficial to most of us. The reasoning for leaking was being mad and fussy. Assange is also more of a show pony trying to be relevant. Yeah, Wikileaks does some amazing work, but I really don't think its about him as much as he acts.
Snowden on the other hand, did the right thing. I disagree with him fleeing to China/Russia, but finding a friendly country that wont extradite you is hard.
- SixSigma 10y agoI'm sure most people are familiar with the Baghdad airstrike video "Collateral Murder" and that it was a significant eye openener of considerable public interest. [1] The exposure to the world of Guantanamo Bay was of no benefit ? [2] There are plenty of people who might suggest that The Tunisian revolution and Arab Spring [3] improved for world for the better. I think these are more than "a bunch of operational details" [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_12,_2007_Baghdad_airstrike https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_12,_2007_Baghdad_airstrik... My take is that the (vastly) more important issue is whether those actions mean she should be subjected to torture, in the form of her sentence to solitary confinement (and all the humiliations she has endured as a result). Which, being a civilized nation as we are, of course they don't. The only recourse at this point is to offer her not just an (immediate) pardon -- but a formal apology, and a hefty compensation for the ordeal to which she has been subjected in our names. Along with a firm promise never to do such ghastly things to our citizens ever again.
