If no one is going to read it, I'm not going to take the time to write and send it. That's my first rule of email. I really don't like to do things for appearances, and while I am professional I also do what I can to cut out the things that truly don't need doing - for myself and for my teams. I'd like to think I'm a good manager in that regard.
