I wonder if JavaScript just doesn't show up as much in their sources because it's implied? At least when I've been job hunting for web-related work, your typical job posting lists the back-end language and the front-end is just assumed. (Things might have changed with all the heavy-duty front-end JS frameworks out there now.)
