It's an interesting treatise, but I suggest the author is describing media in general. Tech has only amplified the faults of media: emotionally visceral and passionate (i.e. as opposed to dispassionate or objective) news gets the clicks. Very proud and 'credible' news outlets face this problem and it's real. Either get the clicks or go out of business.
