This is what I do. Pick up, instantly determine if the call if of any significance, keep talking or hang up. Usually I never get a repeat call from spammers. If I do, I have already blocked them. This way I never miss an important call (package delivery, bank stuff, etc.). I don't know but ignoring a call feels very unsatisfying. It keeps gnawing at me.
