The MapCell response actually returns "NearbyPokemon" and "WildPokemon" separately - where that node implementation is using the "WildPokemon" list. I mostly just think just using the "NearbyPokemon" which returns distance in meters only, not latlong, and displaying only the steps would be more in the spirit of the game is all.
The Fort/Gym data from the map request returns only the top cp pokemon in the gym. But the actual gym data returns the actual list of member pokemon, which might also include the nickname (POGOProtos definitions include it, but would need to make an actual request to confirm).
