  Really? This is a story of some user on Reddit. Who is the scientist in this story, what's his name, where are his publications, and how do his actions amount to the examples I was asking for?

  A grad student with sockpuppets? When did he "openly advocate misleading the public" (as opposed to gaming Reddit in a stupid and ultimately self-destructive manner).
