There was a time when democracy was considered a weird and new thing that would destroy society (mostly by the rich established aristocracy) I bet United Fruit Company totally agrees with you that corporations should be allowed to do whatever they want in order to maximize profits. I think it comes down to, are you a baby or an adult? Because the baby doesn't know much about the world, and wants a strong authority figure to guide and protect. The adult needs independence and the ability to make his own decisions.
