The title is slightly misleading. This is an article dominated by the discussion of buying land, specifically farmland. I don't see a lot of discussion about buying a home has a disappointing investment. With that said, I disagree with the author because he's failed to examine the long term security of buying land. Buying a parcel of land can pay off in ways not completely obvious in the present tense. It can be used as collateral on the purchase of a home. It can be used to build a future home on, or if all else fails, pitch a tent and count your blessings.
