Converting between TAI and UTC requires tables that must be periodically updated and distributed to any system that converts between the two. Smooth UTC is a good alternative for most computing applications.
- baq 10y agoI always assumed you need such a table anyway to know when leap seconds happen...
- dietrichepp 10y agoYes, but if the machine clock is synchronized to UTC the machine itself doesn't need the table, and you only have to distribute the table to a small number of NTP servers.
