Every time I go to a German restaurant that people rave about (but more on the family-style dining side of things,) I'm shocked by how similar it is to the stuff my grandparents (on both sides) used to cook. Meanwhile, when I cook my staples are tacos, chili, coconut curry, and chicken salad.
