Any examples of dedicated notebook software?

- ktaube 10y agoI've been using Quiver[0] for past month, and I really like it. It feels like ipython notebook only for my notes. Unfortunately, it works only on Mac. - Raphmedia 10y agoI also vouch for Quiver. Works really well.
- et-al 10y agoStill trying to find a good one myself. Tried using Evernote but their code formatting isn't that great and I'm always worried about the day they might close shop. Been writing Markdown files in a git repo, then syncing on Gitlab so I'd have them accessible anywhere, but there's more manual effort involved with writing Markdown (I forget some of the fancier list/bullet formatting) and also defining metadata for future lookups (first few lines of each text file). If someone made an Electron-based app, this would be great for all the programmers out there.
- ozten 10y agoIn the beginning of my career I used a paper notebook. This is still handy as I think I remember what I hand write more deeply. I still use a paper notebook for ideas and sketching. TODO list / GTD: For the last few years, I've been using altNV, but any notational velocity clone will do. Killer feature is simplicity through full text search as the filename.

- usermac 10y agoiOS GoodNotes for years. Now I've got an iPad Pro with Apple Pencil and it is pretty wonderful. Of course not perfect—no OCR or searchable text but sure is a nice thing to use everyday.
- tedmiston 10y agoQuiver looks neat. If you're searching for something plain and simple, keeping a repo of Markdown files on GitHub has worked well for me. I make one file for each book / article / lecture. The material I cover is mostly about tech or entrepreneurship. https://github.com/tedmiston/notes https://github.com/tedmiston/notes Here are a couple of the most complete pages in it: - Show Your Work! by Austin Kleon - https://github.com/tedmiston/notes/blob/master/books/Show%20Your%20Work!.md https://github.com/tedmiston/notes/blob/master/books/Show%20... - Zero to One by Peter Thiel - https://github.com/tedmiston/notes/blob/master/books/Zero%20to%20One.md https://github.com/tedmiston/notes/blob/master/books/Zero%20... - Startup School Radio #35: Paul Graham - https://github.com/tedmiston/notes/blob/master/podcasts/Startup%20School%20Radio/35%20-%20Paul%20Graham.md https://github.com/tedmiston/notes/blob/master/podcasts/Star...
