Alexa: A dating bot for Facebook Messenger
- randylubin 10y agoBranding it the same name as Amazon Echo's chat agent (also Alexa) seems like trouble...
- JonRB 10y agoAnd Amazon's other service, found at alexa.com
- schoen 10y agoThese, in turn, ultimately owe their name to the Library of Alexandria: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexa_Internet#Operations_and_history https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexa_Internet#Operations_and_...
- jonathankoren 10y agoAnd yet, they didn't use the name Alexandria.
- richdougherty 10y agoWhich owes its name to Alexander the Great.
- solipsism 10y agoWho in turn owes his name to Alexander II of Macedon.
- gohrt 10y agoNo, to Alexander I of Macedon. Alexander II was Alexander (III) the Great's uncle.
- solipsism 10y agoSo what if he was his uncle? People are named after their uncles. Alexander II ruled well before the birth of Alexander III (during the boyhood of his father in fact) and would have been a perfectly logical namesake.
- bllguo 10y agoIt's not like there's a shortage of available female names. I don't understand their motivations.
- jswny 10y agoEven if has no problem with copyright I fail to see how naming something like this the same name as a very popular product can do anything except make it harder to find. Nobody's ever going to find this thing in Google unless they go through pages of results about Amazon's product.

- jonathankoren 10y agoSo it's a menu system.
- cellis 10y agoMisspelled "increase". Looks interesting though.
- guelo 10y agoI really don't understand why chatting is supposed to be a better interface for something like that. Tinder blew up because they innovated the simplest possible UI. The UI here is broken, notice that after the second "like" the user would have had to scroll up to like another one. Or they would have to memorize some chat commands like "main menu" or "more women".
