This is a perfectly reasonable analysis of why a particular language choice didn't fit a particular project, without a lot of hyperbole or boosterism.
- smegel 10y agoIt would have been even more reasonable if they did the analysis before switching over the entire code base.
- Scarbutt 10y agosure, but you underestimate that lots of devs might learn something from this article.
- sickill 10y agoYup. People asked me to write this post as they were genuinely curious. I also think it adds something to our collective knowledge.
- sickill 10y agoWe did. But you see, theoretical analysis doesn't always produce accurate result and you won't learn about practical issues until you get your feet wet. Also, like I said in the post, it turned out to be not great choice for combination of this particular project AND me.
