Olden but golden? In fact it looks like 0.6 realease is really far along. It's read performance got so good that a bunch of sites are ditching memcached(db) in favor of it.
Speaking of Cassandra, can anyone confirm that facebook is actually moving from Cassandra to hbase?
- eevans 17y agoFacebook is tight-lipped about such matters. I do not think you're going to get confirmation here, (not one that I would trust).
- fizx 17y agoFacebook is using both.
- henrikschroder 17y agoMemcached is a completely different product, why would you stop using that just because you start using Cassandra? Memcaheddb on the other hand is, IMHO, a misguided project. People ditching that is a very good thing. :-)
- kingkilr 17y agoThe argument is that memcached is unnecessary because of the speed of Cassandra, and the fact that .6 includes it's own, built in, row level cache. [cite] http://twitter.com/ericflo/status/9402946197 http://twitter.com/ericflo/status/9402946197
- kingkilr 17y agoWhat I've heard is that facebook is using Cassandra exclusively for inboxes (and that they're using hbase for a bunch of other stuff).
