Emulators on mobile devices that can play pokemon have been around for a long time, but they yield a much worse experience (IMO) then portable consoles. If I had to guess this is both tactile and graphical, as touchscreens and mobile graphics libs were not designed especially for them. I still think they have a broad appeal for Nintendo fans.
