This is amazing. A couple of years ago I asked if we were able to use Optogenetics to build a "bridge" over damaged neurons or nerve fibers. Is this technology a "yes" answer to that question?
- siyer 10y agoSpecifically in the peripheral nervous system, there's been some work along these lines, primarily in anesthetized experiments, using ChR2-expressing stem cells, which integrate into denervated nerves, and enable optogenetic control of the previously denervated muscles.
