I don't understand why people keep pushing this. The WiiU is a flop, but the Wii sold massively. On the mobile side, they probably want to try to avoid cannibalizing their portable hardware sales. They own that space and have sold 60+ million 3ds, and 150+ million DS family units. From the genesis Sega went through the 32x (665k), sega cd (2.25 million), bailed on the neptune, saturn (9m), and the dreamcast (9m).
