Of course all lives matter. But if racial identities were homes, there are a few on fire in the United States and it doesn't make much sense to call the fire department for every house when a few urgently need the attention more. Is that fair?
- mhuffman 10y agoBlack people are not actively being targeted by anyone but other black people. Is that fair?
- bdcravens 10y agoI had no idea that Dylan Roof was African American. "..actively being targeted.." is a red herring. Active, or in response, we need to look at the effect. Black on black crime is bad, and is a crime, and should be punished accordingly. Police killing someone has a much more difficult time of being convicted as a crime. In theory, punishment would be a deterrent, but giving someone a license to kill is a much different level of fear.
- mhuffman 10y agoI am not pro-police. I believe they all need civilian oversight and review, and a thorough de-materialization. The problem is that with the above the "Black Lives Matter" not "All Lives Matter" is that it leaves an unmentioned part ... "Black Lives Matter, because White People Are Doing X (whatever X is that month". If black lives matters would have stuck to being a police revision group, most of the country could have got on board. As it stands, they are an anti-white hate-group, with not specific agenda other than "Whitey Sucks!"

If you're interested in what the BLM movement has accomlished, there are many resources at your disposal, but I'd start here [1]. - pixl97 10y agoLet's word this a different way. If 6 black people's homes were on fire, and 4 white people's homes were on fire, wouldn't it make more sense to send firefighters to all the houses? It should be recognised that having a violent interaction with police in America occurs more often than every other first world country regardless if your black or white.
